Changes

It's been a few weeks since I have posted anything the main reason for that being how hectic everything had been with school and other things but now that things have settled down and I have officially graduated college that should hopefully give me more time to go out and shoot. As well as finishing up school I also took part in a student gallery for all of us that where graduating where I showed some of my street photography done off of my iPhone. I have to say I was a bit uncertain about showing my street photos done with the iPhone at first because of the kind of response I thought that I'd get but I ended up loving how they looked and actually the responses to me where interesting. The response to the images themselves where good but what was really cool to see was the varied response to the fact that they where shoot with an iPhone which ranged from people liking the idea and surprised at the quality of the image to people that seemed to be more "eh". Luckily as far as I know nobody absolutely hated my work which is always nice. I have grown to really like the iPhone for street photography, I don't know if that is where I will end up with my photography as I enjoy experimenting with different ways of shooting but for now it has been a lot of fun and a nice change. I'll keep posting with new work, I am also in the middle of actually creating a website so I'll also post updates on that as well, hopefully I can get some of the layout ideas I am wanting to work out.

Trying Something new

Things have been kind of weird lately as far as shooting, I've really wanted to go out and take pictures but at the same time I've started to feel tired of shooting the same places and things. To alleviate this I first started trying out different ideas that I have had and things that i have seen people do that I really liked. One example of this is doing some of my street photography with something other than a regular camera. iPhone street photography has been one of those things that I've seen by different people on the Internet and have always wanted to try so when I decided yesterday that I wanted to head downtown to shoot that I would give it a try and it turned out to be a lot of fun. there is something about just using the phone to take my pictures it's a bit more discreet then a 35mm or DSLR. I also enjoyed the fact that there aren't really as many options as far as exposure and setting which makes shooting a challenge but can also make it a bit easier as well. There will definitely be more iPhone stuff coming soon as much as I like to shoot in a more traditional style i also really enjoy experimenting with street photography in different ways.

Update and a couple more images from 6th street.

Since things have been kind of nuts due to school again I haven't taken a lot of time to post anything but that doesn't mean i haven't been out shooting, If anything lately i have actually been trying to spend more time going out to shoot. last week i had ordered a three rolls of b&w film and three rolls of color film and so far have shot one of each as well shooting some digital and actually going out and experimenting with shooting street photography with a Holga. I'm in the process of getting my film developed so I should hopefully have that up soon but I will post three photos that I took on a sunny afternoon on 6th street. I'm also pretty excited since the photo of the man doing pottery while people watch with ice cream will actually be hung up in a student/faculty exhibition at the local art museum on campus. So as always I'll have more up at some point soon, Hopefully some more of the film that I've shot.

6th Street Film Pictures

I always hate when I end up going a week or more with out posting anything but for these photos it kind of seems worth the wait at least for me it did anyway. A while back I had posted that I had gone out and tried shooting with a Ricoh 500g rangefinder that had been given to me. it's taken a it of time to get in and get the negatives scanned but I'm pretty happy with out some of them have turned out. this definitely won't be the last time I shoot with film, I actually have another roll that I've shot while on campus at night that I can hopefully start getting developed and scanned over this next week. I also hope to go out and shoot again this weekend providing that the weather stays somewhat decent so either way there will be more pictures up pretty soon.

6th Street in Color

It's been a couple of weeks since I've had a chance to post anything again but I had a chance to go out this weekend and shoot. There aren't as many pictures as usual because this was about trying something a little different by photographing in color. I finally wanted to give color a try after not being too big on it since I have started. Not to say that I dislike color for street there are several photographers who shoot color that I really enjoy their work. My avoidance of color, I think was just that the stuff I shot just didn't really look that good to me. While I am still not a hundred percent on these images I do still like them and think I'll continue trying to shoot in color in hope of getting better. More images will be be coming again soon.

Pictures from Medi Park

After a few weeks of no pictures I am happy to say that I've had a chance to go out and shoot a few days this week and am ready to get back to posting. It's been kind of nice since between the holidays and other things I haven't had a lot of time to go out and shoot and have realized how much I miss doing it.

I decided that I wanted to shoot somewhere a bit different from downtown Amarillo or 6th Street so I walked down to Medi Park, a large park by the hospital which is located not too far from where I live. There is something about parks and the people there that I have always enjoyed, the energy and the people there are so different from what you find somewhere like downtown, even when there are a lot of people there's something serene about it.
